In addition to the beaches and the heavenly sea, Zanzibar also deserves attention from a historical and cultural point of view. In the capital Stone Town you can admire all the architectural beauties of the main island of the archipelago. A visit to the Arab Fort is a must, which will take you back in time, and to the Palace of Wonders, the largest architectural structure in Zanzibar, overlooking the sea, but Kelele square is also worth seeing: just think that the slave market used to take place right where the Anglican Christ Church cathedral stands!
As for the naturalistic aspect, visiting the coconut villages and the famous spice plantations in the center of the island you can take a walk in the tropical greenery among cinnamon, curry, aloe, vanilla, pepper, chili pepper plants, discovering their thousand properties and inebriating scents.
Prison Island and the nearby islet of Nakupenda offer sea views of incredible splendor: the island is located right in front of Stone Town and is a real spectacle. In addition to discovering its very particular history, here you can take beautiful photos with the giant tortoises of Aldabra from the Seychelles, while in the small and enchanting atoll lapped by the clear waters of the Indian Ocean you can admire the wonder of the coral reef.
The atoll of Mnemba is suitable for lovers of snorkeling: the channel in front of the atoll is considered by divers to be one of the richest sites in marine flora and fauna of the entire Zanzibar archipelago.
